There are a few things that contribute to the cost of membership...
Dakota County 4-H Dues:
Every 4-H Member in Dakota County (MN) will pay Dakota County 4-H Membership Dues. Each year, the county dues are paid by members in the fall when they register for 4-H and paid directly to Dakota County
Wild Wescotts Club Dues:
The Wild Wescotts club does not collect membership dues. There are many clubs that collect dues for members to pay for the programming for the year. The Wild Wescotts does not collect club-level dues.
Events & Activities:
Participation in Events & Activities may have some associated costs, and the costs will vary. Many of the activities that we plan are free or very affordable and are paid at the time/place of the activity. To give you an idea of annualized costs, in the 2023-2024 programming year, our activity cost for participants averaged under $35 for the entire year.
Occasionally, we will include an activity that is more expensive than average which may drive up the cost significantly. For example, in prior programming years, we have included premium activities such as Dogsledding which included costs of $70 per person.
Project Work:
Project-related costs are the most variable costs associated with 4-H membership. Some project areas have little costs. For example, a student could participate in the craft project area, producing crafts with found materials. On the other hand, some project areas will have some very big costs. For example, a students who would like to explore Poultry and show related animals at the County & State Fair, would have various costs related to their animal including feeding, housing, transporting, and more.
