How to Join

BAND is a group communication app that allows us to create spaces to communicate with members of different groups. 

It's available on iOS, Android, and desktop.  As a club, we use BAND as the preferred method of communication over email.  Over the years, we have found that email providers (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc) have varying levels of spam filters and controls, and unfortunately, many of our prior communication was lost or blocked by email services.

Usually, when families are interested in 4-H, they would like a little more information about the club.  BAND is a great way for new families to join our group communication channels, ask questions, and see our calendar of events.

There is a lot of information on the Dakota County 4-H Site.  On their site, you can find information about 4-H, search for clubs and more.

Once you have decided to join the Wild Wescotts 4-H Club, you will need to register for the Wild Wescotts club within Dakota County 4-H registration system called 4-H Online

Once you have registered, you can pay dues to Dakota County 4-H, using their membership dues form.  Note, the Wild Wescotts club does NOT collect dues independently

The Wild Wescotts club has 1 google calendar.  This calendar is embedded into our website and it is synchronized to our BAND.

On the calendar, you will see ALL of the things that we have planned for the Wild Wescotts, including:

• Monthly Club Meet-ups:  Once a month (most months), the entire club is invited to an active learning opportunity.  These activities are on our calendar and usually hosted on a Weekend (or a day off of school).  All information about the activity will be included on the calendar event, including time, location, and sign-up requirements (if a sign-up is required).

• Monthly Leadership Touch base - these are monthly virtual meetings for the Youth Leadership Team & Club Leaders to gather and plan for coming meetings and activities.  These are primarily administrative in nature.  Parent captains and interested parties are welcome to attend, but may be asked to "table" their asks if new business was not added to the agenda.

In order to participate in our activities, we ask that you first join the BAND and register for 4-H (Steps 1 & 2 noted above).  

We know that some families would like to attend without registration, and that is encouraged for a single visit, however, attending regular sessions requires a complete 4-H registration.  

Attending a Wild Wescotts' event is as simple as reviewing the event on the calendar, and signing up for the event if a sign-up is required!  Then, simply show up.  Every calendar event will have details about the event, including time, location, cost, and sign-up details.   We aim to provide a range of activities so that cost is not a major barrier, and Dakota County 4-H has scholarship resources available to assist with cost if a family is in need.  For cost assistance, please reach out to Kris Vater (kvatter@umn.edu ) with Dakota County 4-H.
